Festive December in the Soča Valley is a time when nature and people come together in a festive spirit.
Snow covers the mountain peaks, lights illuminate the streets, and the smell of mulled wine and festive delicacies fills the air. Each municipality in the Soča Valley - Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin and Kanal ob Soči - offers a unique festive experience that attracts visitors from near and far.
FESTIVE DECEMBER IN THE BOVEC REGION
In Bovec, festive December begins on December 7, 2024 with the traditional lighting of the lights on the main square. Visitors can enjoy ice skating on the temporary ice rink set up in front of the Cultural Center, or go sledding from Mangart. For nature lovers, guided winter hikes will be organized and the traditional 17th BOFF (Bovec Outdoor Film Festival), which this year once again impresses with numerous films, lectures, photography exhibitions and excursions. At the end of the year, a children's New Year's Eve party will be held in the tent in front of the Bovec Cultural Center (from 1:00 p.m.), and in the evening, an unforgettable New Year's Eve party with the band Roxie and Skater.
FESTIVE DECEMBER IN THE KOBARID REGION
Kobarid, known for its rich history and culinary delights, comes alive during the holiday season with holiday workshops with Benuga and numerous events in the Cultural Center. FESTIVE DECEMBER IN THE TOLMIN REGION
In Tolmin, the festive season began with a visit from Santa Claus in front of the KZ Tolmin Market and the lighting of the lights and the opening of the ice rink in the center of Tolmin. In December, as part of the Tmin December Party, numerous performances, concerts and workshops will take place in Tolmin and the surrounding areas. A diverse program will also take place at the ice rink, which will be open until 2 February 2025. You are also invited to the Nativity Walk, which leads through the old town center of Tolmin. To end the year, the ZKŠM and the Municipality of Tolmin invite you to events on the Town Square. On December 28, the Društvo mrtvih pesnikov, MRFY and Masayah will perform. On December 30, there will be a children's performance with Father Christmas, and the New Year's Eve party will be hosted by the Obvezna smer group. The program will also be complemented by events in other places, such as the December Tantarajanje at the Slap ob Idrijci Cultural Center.
HOLIDAY DECEMBER IN KANAL
Kanal ob Soči, with its picturesque bridges and ancient streets, becomes a real fairyland during the holiday season. You can join numerous holiday workshops for children, performances by local theater groups and choirs, which bring a festive atmosphere to visitors. At the end of the year, between December 27 and 29, the Kanal Tourist Association invites you to the square in Kanal, where there will be a real festive atmosphere.
